Taking Care of Shoulder After Shoulder Arthroscopy?

Shoulder Replacement in Jaipur
Shoulder Arthroscopy is recommended by experts for treatment regarding the damage or injuries to the shoulder. Even though it is a surgical procedure but on comparing the merits of open surgery even a layman would recommend shoulder arthroscopy. While I was on a trip to Rajasthan, I fell off a few stairs in a fort and my body responded with a severe shoulder injury. Thanks to the amazing experts of shoulder replacement in Jaipur, they convinced me to undergo a shoulder arthroscopy over all the doubts that I had for a surgical procedure. I still remember the advice, the surgeon gave to me after the operation, “Surgery is just the starting of the treatment if you want to heal quickly be true to the post-operative care.” Trust me, I recently went on a road trip to Mount Abu and I trekked for many kilometers, that too with complete ease. My piece of advice for your shoulder care after a shoulder arthroscopy has been listed below.

The Medications and Drugs
Once the effect of anesthesia worn off, the following few hours can be painful and very uncomfortable. Talk to your surgeons, they will provide you with painkillers which will bring instant relief and comfort. Various pain killers and anti-inflammation drugs have been developed which are effective at their work and they pose a minimum risk of side-effects.

Traveling to Home
Since I was far away from home, I preferred staying in the hospital till I was able to at least move my shoulder for basic functioning but usually, the patients can go home after few days of the surgery. Driving is a strict no until the shoulder has completely healed. Doctors advise to travel in absolute comfort and if possible, public transport such as bus should be avoided.

At Home
Once you are home, you can ask for the house settings to be changed as per your comfort. Sleeping on a reclining chair was found comfortable by some patients who underwent shoulder arthroscopy. Move your wrist and elbows at regular intervals, show practical consent to the programme of rehabilitation you have been prescribed with.

Follow up with Your Doctors
The medications for the starting days of post-operative care are of higher dosage and quality than the follow-up prescriptions, meet your concerned doctors at regular appointments. He or she may change the prescriptions as per the progression in the shoulder. In case if meeting up with the surgeons who performed your surgery in the first place is not possible, ask them for recommendations, it is of equal help. After my discharge, I had to move to a few places for research work, my doctors in contact advised me to visit an orthopedic surgeon whose central field of expertise was revision hip replacement in Jaipur but he was highly qualified and well-experienced in the realm of surgery and medicine, you can do the same in case you are stuck in an unfortunate incident like mine.
