How is Heart Valve Repaired with Surgical Method ?

Our body has four heart valves. The main function of these valves is to let the blood flow uni-directionally. Two of these valves are atrioventricular – mitral and tricuspid which are located between the upper chambers and lower chambers and two of them are semilunar ones – aortic and pulmonary which are in the arteries leaving the heart. But there are some conditions that doesn’t let one of the heart valves function properly. This means that blood won’t be able to flow properly. To get rid of this condition, there is need of heart valve repair surgery in India.

Normally, these flaps open and close once during each heartbeat. But when this does not happen, there is there is disruption of blood flow through the heart to the body. This procedure is done to treat heart valve diseases. This surgery is needed if your condition is getting worse or not being resolved with the help of conservative methods. In some cases, there is need of surgery even when there are no symptoms experienced by the body. There are two methods to perform this procedure –
1. Annuloplasty – It is a procedure to tighten the ring around the valve. This ring is known as annulus. In some individuals, this problem occurs due to calcium buildup on the ring causing blood to leak backwards. In this procedure, size of the existing ring is measured and a band to the ring is sewed in.
2. Valvuloplasty – It is another method to repair a heart valve which is suffering from a narrowed opening. It is also known as balloon valvuloplasty or balloon valvulotomy. In this procedure, a long and thin tube is inserted with a balloon on the tip into an artery in the arm or groin. The balloon is then inflated which expands the valve opening and separates the leaflets.

If an open surgery is not an option for you, then you will be suggested minimally invasive cardiac surgery in Jaipur. It is performed with small incisions as opposed to open heart surgery. The breastbone is kept intact and the operation is rather done between the ribs. One big advantage of this procedure is that a surgeon has better view of some parts of the heart. Heart is stopped temporarily but the blood flow will be diverted from the heart with the help of a heart bypass lung machine. It is an efficient way to deal with problems of heart valve.
